Australian born director and producer Deborah Read is an exciting filmmaker with a unique ‘Oscars’ pedigree. Have worked on the Academy Awards as an Associate Director since 2001. In 2006 Deborah made the move into the director’s chair as one of the eight women selected for the prestigious American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women (DWW). ‘The One’, which she directed and co-wrote, is the first film for this AFI alumnus, and member of the Directors Guild of America. She brings with her to the film world a vast wealth of experience in production, creative direction, technical expertise and screen writing.

Her extensive background in broadcasting ranges such prime-time events as The Emmys, The Superbowl Half-Times, The Kennedy Center Honors, The American Music Awards, The MTV Video Music Awards, The AFI Tribute Shows, and the two time Image Award winning An Evening of Stars Tributes. She been part of three Emmy Award winning teams for the 2004, 2006, 2008 Academy Awards broadcasts. In 2006 she also made her live directorial debut, which was literally out of this world. She helmed the AOL-NASA ‘Space Day Live’ broadcast, linking Earth with the International Space Station. Deborah also won an Emmy for Outstanding Direction for a PSA in 2011 for the non profit group Toy Loan.
