SYVF is proud once again to be a partner for the TedxWhitefish event on May 4 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. IN THE SPIRIT OF IDEAS WORTH SPREADING, TEDX IS A PROGRAM OF LOCAL, SELF-ORGANIZED EVENTS THAT BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO SHARE A TED-LIKE EXPERIENCE. TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading the acronym stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. However, today the topics encompass a much broader spectrum.

TED originally started as a four-day conference in California in 1984, and has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. At TED, the world’s leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Talks are then made available free, at TED.com. Speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, and Sir Ken Robinson.

TEDx started as a new initiative 5 years ago, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world, within the TED program on a volunteer basis and may not profit from these events in any way. These micro-events help world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and, with its help, amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities. Their mission is: “We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.”
